I-B-3. ADOLPHUS JESSE SIBERT (1852 – 1929), son of Henry Sibert3 (David2, John David1)

Adolphus Jesse Sibert, M.D. was born on 23 February 1852 in Collinsville, DeKalb County, Alabama. [1][2] He died on 24 April 1929, aged 77, in DeKalb County, Alabama. [2][3] He married Martha Elizabeth Simpson on 1 January 1882 in DeKalb County. [1][2][4] Martha, the daughter of James and Susan Simpson, was born on 2 August 1858 in Fyffe, DeKalb Counry. [1][2] She died on 25 June 1934, aged 75. [2][5] Adolphus and Martha Elizabeth are buried together in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Fyffe. [2]

Martha's death notice says that Mrs. Martha Sibert—the wife of Dr. Dolphus Sibert, who had died five years before—died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Bailey. [5]

According to the census, in 1880, Martha E. Simpson, aged 21, lived in Beat 5, DeKalb County with her parents James and Susan Simpson. [6]

According to the census, in 1900 Dolphus, born in February 1852, and Martha E., born in August 1858, lived in Graham, DeKalb County with their children, Vivian H., born in February 1883; David M., born in December 1884; Paul, born in August 1887; and Jessie, born in September 1889. The entire family was born in Alabama. Dolphus and Martha had been married 18 years and Martha had had four children. Dolphus was a farmer. In 1910, Dolphus J., aged 58, and Martha E., aged 51, lived in Graham with a 16-year-old boarder, Lena Monday. Dolphus and Martha had been married 28 years and had four children. Dolphus was a farmer. In 1920, Dolphus J., aged 66, and Martha E., aged 60, lived in Graham. [6]

In 1930, Mattie, aged 71, lived with her daughter Vivian's family in Graham. [6]

Children of Adolphus Jessie Sibert and Martha Elizabeth Simpson:

I-B-3-a. Vivian Henrietta Sibert was born on 28 February 1883. [1][2] She died on 27 December 1982, aged 99. [2] She married George Parks Bailey on 3 June 1900. [1][2] He was born on 1 May 1878. [1][2] He died on 4 or 6 June 1956 in Atlanta. [2][7] Vivian and George are buried together in the Mount Zion Cemetery. [2]

In 1910, George P., aged 30, and Vivian, aged 25, lived in Graham with their children Chester, aged seven; Dewey, aged six; Clura, aged three; and Orene, aged one. The entire family was born in Alabama. George and Vivian had been married eight years and Vivian had had four children. George was a farmer. In 1920, George P., aged 41, and Vivian, aged 36, lived in Graham with their children Chester, aged 17; Dewey, aged 15; Clura, aged 13; Orine, aged 10; Hansal, aged seven; Cleo, aged five; and Gracy, aged two. George was a farmer and the four oldest children were farm laborers. In 1930, George P., aged 53, and H. Vivian, aged 47, lived in Graham with their children, Hansel, aged 17; Cleo V., aged 15; Gracie B., aged 12; Elwanda, aged eight; Virgil, aged five; and [possibly living]. Vivian's mother also lived with them. They were all born in Alabama. George was a farmer and Cleo and Gracie were farm laborers. In 1940, George, aged 61, and Vivian, aged 56, lived in Graham with their children, Elwanda, aged 18, Virgil, aged 14, and [possibly living]. George was a farmer. [6]

George's obituary says he died in a hospital in Atlanta, aged 78. He was survived by his wife, Vivian Sibert Bailey; four sons, Chester of Fyffe, Dewey and Hansell of Atlanta, and Virgil of Doraville, Georgia; and six daughters, Mrs. Jess Smith of Lima, Ohio, Mrs. L.K. Burke of Anniston, Mrs. Kinnion Traylor of Fyffe, Mrs. Hassell Jennings of Anniston, [possibly living], and Mrs. Dorin Garner of Fairbanks, Alaska. [7]

Children of Vivian Henrietta Sibert and George P. Bailey:

I-B-3-b. David Madden Sibert was born on 25 December 1884. He died on 24 September 1955 in Grove Oak, DeKalb County. He married Eppie B. Wilson.

I-B-3-c. Horace Paul Sibert was born on 7 August 1887. He died on 19 March 1987. He married first Minnie Roberta "Bertie" Dickerson. He married second Lizzie ___.

I-B-3-d. Jessie Carl Sibert was born on 15 September 1889. He died on 17 December 1967 in Piedmont, Calhoun county. He married Laura B. Ryan.
